JASON H. COOPER
Jason is a Partner at The Sladkus Law Group and is a dedicated brand protection attorney. He helps clients secure, protect, and enforce their valuable trademarks, copyrights, and other intellectual property. Jason’s practice focuses on dispute work, from sending and responding to demand letters to full-fledged infringement litigation against counterfeiters and other infringers. Jason regularly represents clients in various federal courts, before the United States Patent and Trademark Office’s Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, and in Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy (UDRP) proceedings. Throughout his career, he has enjoyed working with clients in many different industries including, fashion and apparel, film and entertainment, technology, alcoholic beverages, firearms, construction, home goods, nutritional supplements, hospitality, and many others.
Jason was one of the first graduates of the University of Miami School of Law’s joint J.D./M.M. program. He graduated cum laude and with a Master’s degree in Music Business and Entertainment Industries. Prior to law school, Jason obtained a B.A. in Criminology and Criminal Justice and a minor in English from the University of Maryland, where he also graduated cum laude and as a member of the Phi Beta Kappa honor society.
Before joining The Sladkus Law Group, Jason worked for IP/entertainment law firms in both Miami and Nashville. He is an Atlanta native and member of the IP Section of the Georgia Bar and the Copyright Society of the USA.
Notable Results:
- Anti-Counterfeiting: Regularly works with clients to develop anti-counterfeiting strategies that have resulted in the removal of thousands of counterfeit goods from the stream of commerce;
- Anti-Counterfeiting:Obtained ex parte temporary restraining order and impoundment order for hundreds of counterfeit goods and sales records leading to favorable settlement in case before the Northern District of Georgia;
- Domain Name Disputes: Regularly assists clients with removing copyrighted content from unauthorized websites, disabling websites selling counterfeit goods, and cybersquatting issues;
- Copyright Litigation:Obtained preliminary injunction for client barring alleged infringer from manufacturing, shipping, selling or displaying allegedly infringing products in case before the Northern District of Georgia;
- Copyright/Trade Secret Litigation:Successfully defended client against preliminary injunction during three-day evidentiary hearing in case before the Southern District of New York;
- Copyright Litigation*:Obtained terminating sanctions and nearly $200,000.00 in attorneys’ fees after proving willful destruction and suppression of evidence and perjury in case before the Southern District of Indiana; (*Work done at prior firm.)
